Security Through Design.

Our mission is to ensure that every project has a balanced architectural and security solution.

Incorporating security design principles into the early stages of the architectural design process is essential to creating a holistic solution for every project.

Safety and Security does not have to sacrifice good design

Likewise, achieving a good design does not have to come at the expense of safety and security. Through a holistic approach these sometimes opposing philosophies can be brought together in unison when the multitude of required facets are treated as a single entity.

GIVEN ENOUGH TIME, EVEN THE BEST SECURITY SYSTEM CAN BE DEFEATED

Employing the concept of Defense in Depth, creates a layered solution with multiple system working in unison to counter an assailant. The 5 D’s of Security; Deter, Detect, Deny, Delay, and Defend, are assigned to ever element within the security design to identify the function they must perform.

OUR services

RiSk & Vulnerability Assessments

The starting process of any security solution begins with a proper and thorough assessment to identify any risk or  vulnerabilities your organization may be facing.  Our ability to look through the problem through the lens of designers and security experts allows for a holistic approach that is able to look at problems and solutions simultaneously.  Additionally, we are able to identify items conflicting with building code requirements, preventing solutions needing to be revised based on buildability.  An assessment can be performed as a standalone service or the first step in creating a comprehensive security solution.

CPTED Consulting

Governing bodies of all levels across the country are adopting Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) standards into their plan review process, as well as requirements for a certified professional to be a member of the design team.  CPTED is built on the four principles of Natural Surveillance, Territorial Reinforcement, Access Control, and Maintenance.  Implementing the appropriate strategies in the early stages of the design process is key to a successful CPTED solution.  Our staff has been incorporating these principles into their projects from the outset of their careers and are well versed in their abilities to bring that expertise to your project.

Red Teaming & Physical Penetration Testing

Security systems are only effective when they are being properly implemented and staff appropriately follow the policies and procedures associated with them.  Physically testing these assets is an exceptional way of discovering what is working and what is not.  Better your trusted security advisor find any weaknesses than an adversary intent on doing harm.  This service can be applied to completed projects as a follow up or to test current security solutions at the beginning of a comprehensive assessment.

Security Design SERVICES

We work with our clients to identify the specific strategies that should be incorporated into their project, then we work with the design team to integrate those strategies into the architectural design and shape the physical spaces.  Knowing the technological requirements for the multitude of systems that need to come together to create a single security solution for a project requires the ability to know how those systems are implemented in the built environment.  Our teams extensive experience allows for that integration to take place in every phase of the design process.  Our goal is to produce a security solution that seamlessly integrates into ever project, creating a sense of safety for the occupants.

Architectural Plan Review

To ensure that the decisions made in the beginning stages of the project are carried through to competition, reviewing the bidding and construction documents is essential.  With our architectural background, our knowledge of the requirements for producing these documents is second nature.  We are capable of reviewing drawings during all phases along a projects schedule.  Larger organizations that have concurrent building projects benefit from having a single point of contact for maintaining a level of consistency amongst multiple projects and design firms.  We also partner directly with architectural firms as a member of the design team as well as providing independent plan reviews of projects.

Active Assailant Training

We incorporate the specific design attributes of your building and it’s security solution into one of a kind staff safety training after a project is completed.  Our staff members are certified instructors for multiple nationally recognized training programs, including Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) through ALERRT at Texas State University and ALICE Training through Navicate360.  Training like this allows our firm to apply solutions that truly are concept to completion.

“Unlike other security consulting firms, our roots are deep in architectural design and we understand the challenges faced by architectural firms.”
